Tell The Tide

Two decades ago, a California folksinger was finding her voice–shaped by the sea and sky, enriched by old ballads and seasoned with a love for classic rock. Drawing lyric poetry from a deep well of sense and emotion, paired with intricately fingerpicked guitar, she went out in the world as a modern-day bard to share her songs and stories.

Meanwhile, far to the north, another songwriter was painting the local scene with a palette all his own–blending a classical background into the textures of grunge and alt rock, pushing the boundaries of folk with progressive explorations. Driven to question and examine, feel and connect, he crafted layers of wordplay and literary references around his music’s beating heart.

Years passed until the two found their way into the same circles, drawn by a shared love of folklore and fantasy, science and nature. They continued to grow and thrive individually, each receiving awards for their songwriting and performing. Their first collaboration–sparked by favorite stories and threads of similar experience–led to the discovery of extraordinary musical wavelengths and deep bonds of friendship.

Summer Russell and Eric Distad combine their voices and creative talents as Tell the Tide, bringing their songs to life with compelling instrumental work and harmonies of a rare magic. Together they find stars of hope and following seas to new worlds of insight and expression.
